APT Accredits Manny Pacquiao World Poker Event

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is set to combine forces with World Champion boxer and Philippine hero Manny Pacquiao to stage the Manny Pacquiao World Poker Event on December 7-12, 2011 at the Pan Pacific Hotel’s Asia Poker Sports Club in Malate, Philippines. In a deal signed last week and subject to Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) approval, the tournament will become an official APT Accredited Event and be run with all the standards and practices of a regular APT event.

From Left to Right: Joseph Kim (Asia Poker Sports Club Consultant); Jason Morris (APT Tournament Manager); Manny Pacquiao; Lloyd Fontillas (APT Tournament Director)

The Honourable Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao, better known as Manny Pacquiao, is a ten-time world boxing title holder, member of the Philippine House of Representatives and also a great supporter of poker in the region. This will be the very first staging of the Manny Pacquiao World Poker Event and is another example of a poker venue looking to ensure its tournament is professionally run through an APT accreditation.

APT Asian Series Goa Schedule

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is pleased to announce a historic move that will see the APT Asian Series tournament land on the sunny shores of India’s Goa. Set to take place from November 8-14, 2011 at the floating Casino Royale Goa, it will be the first time that an APT tournament will be held in India and, as such, is poised to capitalise on the country’s burgeoning and largely untapped poker scene.

The schedule for the APT Asian Series Goa will feature seven side events with buy-ins ranging from INR 5000 to INR 20,000 that will include the INR 15,000 Head Hunter, “Greed” and Six-handed events. However, the highlight of the tournament will, of course, be the INR 50,000 buy-in Main Event, which kicks off at 4pm on Friday November 11, 2011.
